In this video brought to you by Project Farm, we see a variety of common water filters tested to see which performs best for removing total dissolved solids, removing red food coloring and removing iron.
The best water filter as found by the test from Project Farm is the ZeroWater 20 Cup Ready-Pour 5-Stage Water Filter Pitcher NSF Certified to Reduce Lead, Other Heavy Metals and PFOA/PFOS, White and Blue.
When it comes to drinking water, it’s essential to make sure that the water is free of bacteria, contaminants, and other particles. To ensure that your drinking water is safe, you need a reliable water filter. In this video, we put five popular models – Brita, FrisLife, LifeStraw, Berkley and Aqua 2 – to the test to find out which one works best.
The first step was to measure the iron content in each sample of water. The LifeStraw performed around 600 parts per million, with an iron content of around 100 milligrams per liter. While LifeStraw didn’t change the color of the water,ey, and AquaTube – to the test to see which one was most effective at removing impurities from water.
The Berkey took about an hour to filter the water, and it removed around 250 milligrams of iron per liter. This was just a little less than Zero Water’s removal capabilities. After further testing, Aqua 2 performed even better than the other models at removing total dissolved solids, coming in with 6 parts per million. The test strip also showed that Aqua 2 did a great job at removing iron from the water.

Next, they opened up each filter to see what makes them so effective at their job. Brita is composed mainly of activated carbon and doesn’t have much else inside its filter. The RV Filter includes activated carbon as well as sponge-like material on both ends of the filter for trapping impurities and sediment. The Zero Water filter has much more going on inside compared to the other brands, and the Berkey features a hollow section that allows water to pass through it. Finally, AquaTube offers Reverse Osmosis technology which is an effective way of cleaning up your drinking water while leaving minerals intact but removing impurities.
From their testing, we found that Zero Water did a great job at removing ferrous sulfate from water with 0 milligrams per liter as its result. Aqua 2 also performed very well at 10 milligrams per liter. Berkey also came in with 50 milligrams per liter, and finally AquaTube offered excellent results in terms of removing impurities while preserving minerals.
Overall, if you’re looking for a water filter to do a thorough job at cleaning up your drinking water without taking away essential minerals, AquaTube seems like the best option.
