When looking to give a gift to your friend who is a prepper, you may want to think a little more deeply. Yes, it’s easy to run out and buy some canned foods and call it a day.
However, when preparing for disasters, one should have more than some extra food and water. In fact, with these five gift ideas, you can offer something of true value that the receiver will come to use in a time of need.
5) Water filtration system:
Let’s face it, a lot of people will save up water for the big day. While this is wise, it’s not going to be enough as humans require a lot of water. So, if you want to provide something that will be used often, you should buy a solid water purifier.
By going all out and spending some cash, you can buy one that will last a long time. Sadly, plenty of people will spend $20 and buy a cheap one that doesn’t work well. But, as we know, since you need water constantly, you should buy a high-end kit that can clean massive amounts of water for a family.
4) Compass:
Believe it or not, a lot of survivalists don’t buy compasses. However, if things fail and you need to get somewhere, you may not have cell phones or GPS to rely on.
Luckily, with a compass, you can find out where you are going, all without the need for batteries. Since a compass is easy to carry in a bag or around one’s neck, this is the perfect gift.
Remember, while it’s easy to rely on GPS and phones now, smart preppers should think ahead and get a compass. While a compass is a good investment, remember to get one that doesn’t require a battery as you don’t want to cause unnecessary problems for your survivalist friend.
3) Sewing kit:
If there is a long-term problem and you need to keep your clothing in great shape, you need a sewing kit. Since most survivalists will want to keep their clothing to a minimum, they will, naturally, want to do what they can to keep their clothes in good shape.
Much like a compass, this is a small item that won’t take up much space as you can throw it in a bag along with other small items. Then, not only can you save money, but you can fix up your clothes without relying on finding new ones, which may become difficult if there is a serious issue in the world that people are dealing with.
2) Really good sleeping bag:
Most people, including survivalists, like having a sleeping bag in the garage. However, if a survivalist lives in California or another warm climate, he or she probably doesn’t have a good sleeping bag as it’s easy to buy a cheap one from a local big box store.
But, if you want to stay out in the wilderness in the cold, especially for a long time, you will want to buy a good sleeping bag. Then, the survivalist can remain comfortable and not worry about hypothermia, which is a serious problem when camping out for a few weeks at a time.
1) Waterproof matches:
Without a fire, a survivalist is going to struggle very quickly as it’s hard to stay warm, cook food and get clean water without a fire.
However, a lot of preppers will buy a lighter or two and think they are done. Others will use cheap or free matches.
But, to avoid problems, you should get your survivalist friend some waterproof matches. Then, when serious issues occur, a person will be well-prepared as fireproof matches will stand the test of time and the water.
With these five items, you can, with ease, help your prepper friend prepare for the inevitable. Simply put, by getting one of these items, you are going to help him or her in the future.
