Well, this is more along the lines of “glamping” than camping… but if you’re a city person and want to start testing out the country life, this might be a good way to try it.
When you think about typical camping it’s probably tiny little tents and uncomfortable living. At least that’s what many average people might think of. This is the absolute opposite of that.
Yes, we know that there are big family tents. But this Cabela’s Ultimate Alaknak Tent is like a mansion compared to those. It can comfortably house up to 11 people because of its 13 by 27 feet dimension. About 20 years ago Cabela’s came up with the initial design and has been improving it ever since. With how expensive housing currently is, I’m considering just getting one of these and living in it. I’d rather have a simple life at this point.
THE HOME AWAY FROM HOME – LITERALLY.
Wondering if the tent will stand up to the elements? You’re in luck. It’s highly durable and wear-resistant. It’s got a “waterproof 250-denier polyester-oxford X-Treme Tent Cloth” that’s fully breathable and resistant to UV damage. That means yes, it can be used in a rainy season as long as it’s not a dangerous storm.
For protection during high winds, the tent has 10 included perimeter poles, one exterior pole, and two center support poles. It’s as sturdy as they come. It’s also got extra-tall 5 ft sidewalls for more headroom.
In the main area, you can fit about 10 camping beds and a few more in the interior room. The exits are protected with awnings that are attached to the roof which direct the water runoff away from the tent floor.

The tent also has large windows with zippered covers so you can get a great view of the scenery from all angles. It also has a clear vinyl window and a mesh-covered screen off to one side for increased ventilation.

ALL THE COMFORTS YOU COULD EVER NEED
Cabela’s nailed this one. They even included a stove jack that’s covered by a storm flap on the floor. That means that you can bring your stove into the tent and not worry about damaging the material. Who would have thought about cooking indoors while in a tent? Apparently, the team who designed it.
The sidewalls have fold-down shelves with cup-holders. There’s plenty of storage space where you can store your hunting gear or cookware.
The downsides of this? It’s priced at $1,699.99 on Cabela’s website and takes a long time to set up. You definitely will want some extra hands on deck to help with setup.
