5 Guns To Guarantee Your Survival No Matter What The Situation!

We’ve all seen the debates about which guns are best to have in different situations. There’s everything from Tips for First Time Gun Buyers to selecting a gun for your bug out bag.

So today, we wanted to talk about 5 Guns to Guarantee Your Survival.

When it comes to situations where you need to be putting meat on your table for your family, it’s often better to have a rifle instead of a hand-gun. A high-powered rifle with long-range power should be in every survivalist’s arsenal.

Not just from the standpoint of these high-powered rifles being extremely fun to shoot, but when it comes to dangerous situations these are one of the most useful.

But, we all know that a handgun can be useful in those instances where carrying around a rifle is not a possibility.

So, what is the best survival gun no matter what the situation?

Depending on your situation and where you live, you’ll want to keep different things in mind. I spent some time researching this topic and came across an article that nailed the subject on the head. I would be doing you a dis-service if I didn’t just share that article with you.

So rather than act like I’m the smartest guy around (only in my own mind), I decided to share the following excerpt from Ranger Man at shtfblog.com.

1) The Mighty AR-15!

best survival gun

This should really come as no surprise. My only guess as to why so many survival writers don’t list the “Black Rifle” as their top choice is because they want to set themselves apart from the pack. Like in politics, when you’re the man on top, you can expect attacks. There are very solid reasons for the AR-15’s extreme popularity and cult-like following. There are very solid reasons why its the #1 choice of the U.S. military and paramilitary groups (“AR-15” to include all variations). It’s the best – period.

Advantages: very common caliber; fast bullet with flat trajectory; highly adaptable platform that allows the user to meet mission specific needs; extensive options readily available; they’re everywhere (meaning so are parts); wide variety of available rounds from 55 grain to 75 grain, tracer rounds, steel penetrator tips, etc.; very, very light recoil; Made in the U.S.A., and in the case of Bushmaster, Made in Maine 😉

Disadvantages: smaller caliber than what’s found in other battle rifles; many moving parts; rather annoying to clean compared to other rifles; the gas system often comes under criticism for throwing the “gunk” back into the chamber (some call this “shitting where it eats”), though this problem has been remedied in some newer models (at a higher cost).

2) Ruger 10/22 Rifle

best survival gun

I can hear it now, “What!?” That’s right, the .22 rifle. It’s ALL about survivalism. Look, when TEOTWAWKI hits you’re going to want a rifle like the Ruger 10/22 for put some sort of meat on your dinner plate. Squirrels, gophers or the neighbors’ cats, the 10/22 is quiet, effective, and you can shoot all damn day for what it’d cost you to buy a 6-pack of PBR.

Additionally, a little recognized fact, Chechen rebels successfully used .22 rifles for sniping purposes against Russian troops in urban settings. The urban setting consisted of narrow streets and close buildings allowing these “snipers” to get exceptionally close to their targets. They strapped soda bottle silencers on them to further the effectiveness. I don’t care what you say about the .22lr, take one in the neck and you’ll think differently.

Advantages: already stated – go buy one

Disadvantages: none whatsoever

3) Compact 9mm Handgun

best survival gun

What’s a more common caliber than the .45 ACP? The 9mm. Unfortunately, it’s the most common handgun caliber in the United States used against police officers. Thugs love it. Love the 9mm, but don’t be a thug.

Advantages: cheaper to shoot than the .45 (and thus practice with); high capacity magazines; easier to conceal and carry

Disadvantage: less lead

4) AK-47

best survival gun

It’s durable, designed to be thrown into a mud hole for a month when it can be dug out and immediately used without cleaning. That might be an exaggeration, but not by much. It also delivers a beefy round for a standard issue assault rifle. If you’re outside the United States, there’s likely readily available parts and ammunition.

Advantages: banana clips, baby; jungled clipped banana clips, baby

Disadvantages: lacks the accuracy found in other assault rifles; made in China, or Russia, or Yugoslavia – you get the idea.

5) Remington 870 12 Gauge Pump-Action Shotgun

best survival gun

*shhhick-shickt*
Let’s hear that again.
*shhhick-shickt*

The sound is undeniable. You hear that and you instantly know what it means, “You wanna roll with me?” The only reasonable response is, “errrr . . . . nah, I’ll move along.”

You can get a shotgun that’ll take a bigger shell, but you don’t need it. The 12 gauge is exceptionally common and it’ll take a variety of shells: birdshot for game hunting survival purposes; double-ought buck for pushing intruders not only down, but back out the window they came in through; and slugs for anything else.

Advantages: common caliber; many accessories available for this model (pistolgrips, tube extensions, etc.); obscene knock-down power

Disadvantages: none come to mind

The Ultimate Guide to Living Off The Grid

The Ultimate Guide to Living Off The Grid

There are numerous disadvantages to having your life tied to the grid. Firstly, it means that you have to adhere to all the set rules created by whoever is in charge of the grid. The people in charge of the grid are not really concerned about taking care of the environment. Thus, by living on the grid, you are contributing to the slow death of the Earth.

Living off the grid means that you are insulated when disaster strikes. For instance, if war breaks out, your survival will not depend on the ability of those in charge to keep things running. The grid is derived from the ‘electric grid.’ However, it refers to various utilities such as food, water, and other amenities you need to survive.

Understanding What Living Off the Grid Will Mean Personally and Legally

Recently, there has been a lot of misleading information spreading, claiming that living off the grid is illegal. However, these articles are not wholly wrong. Government regulation has made it more difficult for people to live off the grid. After all, the government would lose the most if everyone suddenly went off the grid.

In some places in America, regulation has made it illegal to collect huge quantities of water or to have solar power, which is not tied to the grid. In some places, you may even be prevented from living in a travel trailer or to camp on your land. In other places, they have created regulation that makes it hard for you to build an off grid home. It is done by creating strict building codes.

Additionally, the banks are not very willing to lend on off-grid homes. Thus, it would seem that off-grid living is becoming quite difficult in America.

Differentiating Off Grid Living From Self-Sufficiency

Some people tend to intertwine these two terms. However, being self-sufficient does not always mean living off the grid. Living free of public utilities does not always make you self-sufficient.

By being self-sufficient, it means that you do not rely on others for food, power, defense, shelter, and many others. However, getting off the grid is a first step to being self-sufficient. Self-sufficiency is a long and complex journey that will require a lot of commitment to the course.

Getting an Off-the-Grid Source of Electricity

If you are going to be living off the grid, you will probably need some electricity. Some of the best methods for getting power off the grid are solar power and wind turbines. The choice of electricity source that you use will depend on your locality.

Click here to get a free solar quote.

In some places, it could make a lot of sense for you to use solar power because you receive plenty of sunshine. In other places, it would make more sense for you to use wind energy, especially if you live on a slope that receives high amounts of wind. In some places, it would make more sense to use both solar and wind.
However, in all cases, you will need some kind of storage component for off the grid electricity. Wind and solar are intermittent sources of electricity. It means that they only work when there is wind or the sunshine respectively. Ensure that you choose a storage battery that has a long life and a huge capacity. Besides that, you will have to combine it with other technologies such as cloth lines and LEDs. They use less electricity, which allows you to conserve the limited power produced by solar and wind sources.

Use Micro Hydro for Off-Grid Power

If you are going to live off the grid, micro hydro power is probably your best bet. This type of electricity source only requires a source of running water and some elevation. The force of gravity will do the rest. The water will move to the bottom from the top, and the momentum will be used to turn the turbines.

The good thing about micro hydro power is that it is constant. Unless the river dries up, you will always have power in your home. It is thus important that you choose the source of you micro hydropower carefully. You should ensure that it does not dry up seasonally.

Otherwise, you will need to have an alternative for when it does dry up. If you do not have a stream running through your land, micro hydro is not a viable option.

Be Prepared to Look for Your Food

One of the most time and resource consuming activities of living off the grid will be trying to find your own food. For instance, you will need to learn how to track wildlife for protein and how to grow food sustainably.

Creating food systems is not easy. Depending on how big your family is, it could take you up to ten years to get the system implemented. It is important that you plan for every aspect of your food production system without being in a rush.

Once you are done implementing the system, you will now need to focus on harvesting and storage. After you have managed to implement a system, you can expect to spend a significant amount of your time maintaining your system. You should also be prepared to do quite a lot of studying. You will have to read various books written by experts on how to create a sustainable food system.

You Will Need to Find Water

If you are living off the grid, you can do without most things, but water is not one of them. You will require water for keeping clean, cooking, and drinking. Otherwise, your attempt to live off the grid will fail.

One of the most common methods used is to drill for water.

However, that may not be possible in some areas because of fracking. You will be forced to use other methods to access your water. To pump the water from the ground, you can use wind or an electric pump.

If you have wind power, it is the best option since it consumes the least amount of energy. One way of getting an alternative source of water is by using rainwater collection. If you live in an area that receives good rainfall, ensure that you collect every drop you can. However, you will need to install a system to treat the water. That way you avoid drinking water that has been contaminated by bird droppings.

You will also need to have a major storage tank. The water level sometimes gets too low for you well during the dry months. Have a storage vessel that can hold at least 1000 gallons of water. If your water pumping equipment fails, you will still have a source of water before you can do repairs. Set the water collection tank in such a way that it collects water and delivers it to you by gravity.

Reduce Water Usage

Besides having enough water, you will need to reduce your usage. In America, everyone uses about 100 gallons of water daily per person. In comparison, people in Africa use about 5 gallons daily per person. That is clearly and an indication that you may need to make a few adjustments to how you live.

You will need to purchase appliances that are water-efficient such as dishwashers and laundry machines. That way, you will reduce the risk of running out of water while living off the grid.

Building Your Off-Grid Home

If you are going to live off the grid, you will want to come up with a house that is not hooked up to the grid.

Additionally, you do not want to use conventional materials to come up with a house since that would go against your desire to be independent of the grid.

Check out more on building off grid here.

Also, you see read this article on How to Build an Off Grid Home Easily and Essentially for Free.

Why It is Important to Use Natural Materials

Cement production is one of the most environmentally polluting activities on earth. Besides that, it requires huge amounts of energy to produce just one bag of cement. The waste produced by cement factories is also not recycled. If you use natural materials, you will be reducing the impact you have on the earth, which one of the reasons for off grid living.

Some of the most common materials used in off grid living are straw bales, sawdust, wood chips, sticks, and earthy materials. The most common earthy materials used are earthbags, adobe, rammed earth, cob, sand, stones, and rock. Other materials often used for off-grid house construction are coconut, sisal, cork, and bamboo. These are all fast-growing plants that can be renewed with ease. You can learn more about that here.
The best way to determine what material you will use is by looking at your area. If you find that there is sand, clay, rocks, or lime, that may be what you should use. The main reason for using materials in your environment is that you will not have to transport them over long distances. The energy used to transport materials over a long distance usually contributes to environmental pollution.

Consider Using Trash

Most people are familiar with the use of old tires, used bottles, and even soda cans for home construction. Constructing a house with tires usually entails packing tires full of cement or earth and stacking them on top of each other.

However, a less common but effective source of construction material is debris from construction sites. If you know of an old structure that is being brought down, you can opt to acquire the existing materials to construct your house.

For instance, old doors, the roof tiles, and the kitchen counter tops may be re-used for your project. Many companies out there buy debris from demolition sites and use it to construct new homes. Consider using one of these companies to construct your off grid home.

Always think About Size

The average size of homes in America today is double what it was about 50 years ago. A big home uses a lot of energy and resources to construct. If you are living off the grid, you do not want a structure that will cost you a lot just to live in.

Consider coming up with a home that only has as much space as you need. You may also opt to purchase a modular home that comes with everything you need.

You can learn more about how to live off the grid in a tiny house here.

Sewage

You will require a waste disposal system if you plan to live off the grid. If you have already installed a septic system, you are already living off-grid. That means that your waste does not go to the waste treatment plant. However, if you do not have a septic system, it is still possible to live off-grid.
You home will generate two kinds of wastewater when you live off the grid. The first is black water and the other is gray water. The gray water does not have to be wasted. It can be used to flush the toilet or for purposes of watering the garden. By using it in this manner, you will have reduced your water usage footprint a great deal.
You now have the black water to deal with. This water results from the attempt to get rid of human waste from the home. The best way to get rid of this water is to use a composting toilet. The system captures it and puts it in the same compost bin as kitchen waste, grass cuttings, and kitchen scraps. Consequently, the wastewater is converted into fertilizer for use in your garden.

Summary

While living off the grid is a huge effort, it can be done. An average person with basic knowledge on home construction and mechanics can turn this into a reality.

If you are going to go off grid, you will also need to think about efficiency. Otherwise, you may have to expend excessive amounts of energy just to survive.

If you are efficient, it also means that you will not need to use as much money. It is a great way of making your dream of one day being wholly self-sufficient a reality. Many people are already doing it and you can too if you are committed enough.

The Art of Raising Off-Grid Kids, And What They Have To Say About It

I guess we all have an impression in our minds about what off-grid kids might be like.  The movie Captain Fantastic does a pretty good job of showcasing one side of it, although it’s very Hollywood based.

But there are so many variables…. the Fouch Family came from a traditional “on grid” life and now has come into their new life of becoming homesteaders.

Now their experience continues to progress as the stories they tell will become more and more from the voice of experience.

Here’s what our kids, ages 7, 5, and 2 have to say about the simple life. Some voiceover from their parents, explaining things, as the kids show off their make-believe Sarlacc and some Olympic-style bed jumping.

How to Make Rice Water

Have you heard that rice water is a good thing to learn to prepare?

rice water

How to Make Rice Water

Learning how to make rice water is really easy and you most likely already have all of the ingredients that you need to make it.

Why is rice water useful?

Rice water is useful when someone is having any type of stomach issues like vomiting or diarrhea. It is very calming if you have an upset stomach, insanely bland, starchy and helps with getting some nutrients into you (or whoever isn’t feeling well)

It really is simple to learn how to make rice water.

All you need is

  1. Rice
  2. Water

Those are the two ingredients you need, simple. Right?

Put two tablespoons of rice into a pot with 1 cup of water. Do not add salt. Now, bring the water to a boil and boil until the rice is tender.

Then strain the rice out and the milky liquid that is left over is the rice water you are looking for.

You can then eat the rice, or add it to a recipe or even use it to feed chickens or your pet dogs. Just don’t boil it for too long because then the rice water will be extremely thick.

We find that anywhere from 15-30 minutes is the right amount of time to boil.

If it gets too thick, you can water it down.

Be sure to let the rice water cool before serving the person who isn’t feeling their best. You can drink it warm or cold so keep that in mind.

Biggest Reason to Learn How To Make Rice Water

The primary reason to make rice water is for relief of diarrhea.

Bland and hydrating as a broth, rice water is a bit starchy and  provides soothing relief for stomach upset whether you drink it hot or cold.

This home remedy for diarrhea is effective and also provides a negligible amount of vitamins and minerals, which is beneficial over drinking water alone.

Benefits of Rice Water

Rich in the vitamin B complex, folic acid, iron, potassium, magnesium and zinc, rice water gains its properties during the cooking process of rice. White rice is ideal, since during the cooking process it loses more properties than whole-wheat rice. Among its biggest benefits are:

  • Natural energy.
  • For gastrointestinal problems such as diarrhea, nausea and vomiting.
  • Prevents gastroenteritis.
  • Helps regulate body temperature.
  • Recommended for pregnant women to induce breast milk production.
  • For relieving skin irritation.
  • Prevents and cures constipation.

Gov. Scott signs Florida emergency concealed carry bill

Good news for all of you living in Florida who carry….

Here’s a look into what was just stated over on the guns.com article

It will now be legal for gun owners in the Sunshine State to temporarily carry concealed handguns without a permit during periods when the sun isn’t shining so bright.

Now law is a measure to allow law-abiding citizens without concealed carry licenses to bear arms during declared mandatory evacuations. A reboot of a failed 2014 bill that was killed in last minute political maneuvering, this session’s effort had an easier go of it after police lobby groups embraced the proposal. It passed the Republican-controlled Senate in an easy 29-10 vote while the House last month approved it by a 86-26 margin.

“As Hurricane Season approaches it’s critical that our rights are protected during natural disasters,” advised Sen. Jeff Brandes, R-Petersburg, in a statement. “With the signing of SB 290, all lawful gun owners will be permitted to carry a concealed weapon if they are complying with a mandatory evacuation during a state of emergency. I’m proud to have sponsored this bipartisan bill ensuring that we have the right to protect our families during these sometimes chaotic times.”

Brandes bill, SB 290, creates an exception to Florida’s prohibition against concealed carry of a weapon without a permit by allowing adults not otherwise prohibited from possessing a firearm to temporally do so while evacuating. The law allows for a 48-hour window that this would be allowed after the evacuation has been ordered. However, the governor can authorize an extension as needed.

Such evacuation orders occur frequently in the state, most often associated with hurricane threats. Florida, with hundreds of miles of coastline in the North Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico, is prone to severe hurricanes. Since 2000, no less than 63 tropical or subtropical cyclones have affected Florida, more than any other state.

Second Amendment advocates in the state refer to the new law as true common-sense gun legislation.

“This bill is a no-brainer, particularly in Florida with our hurricane exposure,” Marion Hammer, president of the Unified Sportsmen of Florida and past president of the National Rifle Association, told Guns.com Thursday. “When you’re ordered to evacuate — to take your kids, your dog and valuables and flee — the last thing you should leave behind is your gun.”

People have a responsibility to defend themselves and their family, “so taking firearms with you is not only your right, it is your responsibly,” said Hammer.

The law was effective Thursday at signing while the Atlantic hurricane season begins June 1.

What police are being forced to do now is SICK

This is what we’ve come to.

With all the politically-correct activism against supposedly rampant police brutality against citizens, where every action law enforcement takes under stress when every second counts is under scrutiny, we now have the most ludicrous and dangerous recommendation from an activist police commission as to what police should do when confronting someone armed.

Run away.

police-1000x640

And tragically, this is not a joke.

From the official blog of the Los Angeles Police Protective League, If a police officer is confronted by a suspect with a weapon, those entrusted to set policies for the Police Department believe officers should run away.

That’s the recent finding from the Los Angeles Police Commission which has turned Monday morning quarterbacking into a weekly agenda item at the three-ring circus they preside over every Tuesday morning. In the Commission’s most recent decision on an officer-involved shooting, in which a suspect charged at two officers swinging an 8 to 9-inch knife, they faulted the officer for not “redeploying” to “create distance.” In plain English: the officer didn’t run away.

The key facts in this case are not in dispute. A female suspect, armed with an 8 to 9-inch knife, charged at officers, repeatedly ignored commands to stop, and was recorded yelling “shoot me” as she swung her knife from side to side.

The armed suspect quickly closed the gap between her knife and the police officers from 70 feet to less than 5 feet in under 10 seconds. That is when the first officer discharged his service weapon. The second officer involved had only three seconds to respond to the imminent threat. Even the Commission stated that “It was reasonable for Officer C to believe, in the moment when the use of force occurred, that the subject would imminently assault him with the knife.”

So where’s the beef?

The officers didn’t run away.

Suspect charging from the front. Vehicles on either side. Where do you “redeploy?” Run backwards. This is absurd and it’s dangerous. What happens if the officer loses his footing with a charging suspect? What happens if the suspect runs into a nearby home or store and confronts its occupants with her weapon? What if the suspect also had a concealed gun?

What is created when an officer turns tail and runs away is a large target. It’s called a back. The officer would put their lives in further jeopardy by running away if the suspect had a gun. At this close range, running away would create a self-caused danger to the officers and the public.

It sure must be easy to talk about “redeploying” an officer’s position while sipping a Diet Coke or bottled water while sitting in a police-guarded, air-conditioned room, in a cushy office chair, watching the events unfold in slow motion on a big-screen TV.

The message the Los Angeles Police Commission is sending to officers confronted with a violent and dangerous suspect is clear: You can save your life or save your job, but you cannot do both.

Liberalism is neutering our law enforcement. It has already neutered our military – literally and figuratively, as transgender troops are welcomed and Rules of Engagement are made so stringent, warriors like Clint Lorance end up in jail for actually killing the enemy.

The inmates are running the asylum and already criminals are owning the streets. Not surprisingly, police recruitment is struggling and morale is plummeting. In Chicago for example, police stops are down by 90 percent as violent crime skyrockets.
https://www.dnainfo.com/chicago/20160331/bronzeville/chicago-police-stops-down-by-90-percent-as-gun-violence-skyrockets So far this year, 3,182 people have been shot in the Windy City, 494 fatally. Only eight of those killed were officer-involved shootings. That’s just 1.6 percent – hardly an epidemic, but you’d never know that from reading the liberal media.

Nobody volunteers to become a police officer if the job description includes “sitting duck,” “target” and “impotent.”

No wonder gun sales to private citizens are skyrocketing across the nation. Who’s going to protect us if the people who are supposed to are told they cannot?

This is absolutely insane.

25 injured in explosion on Chelsea street, inside garbage can

CHELSEA, Manhattan —  The FDNY reports that 25 civilians were injured in an explosion Saturday night in a busy area of Chelsea, Manhattan in New York City.

The explosion took place around 8:30pm in a garbage can in front of 135 23rd St. between Sixth and Seventh avenues. The building, named Selis Manor, is an apartment complex for the blind.

“It was loud. It was very loud,” said Crown Heights resident Fredricke M. Farrell. “I was on 21st street and the blast sounded like it was right next door.”

The FDNY says none of the injuries appear to be life-threatening at this time.

Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano and Acting Police Commissioner Thomas Krumpter announced Saturday night that the Nassau County Police Department is on heightened alert following the explosions in New York and New Jersey.

The victims were taken to area hospitals. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives arson and explosives task force is responding to the explosion as well.

People in the area told PIX11 they could feel the vibrations from the outdoor explosion.

“I was eating dinner and felt the vibrations of the blast,” said Yemi Osibogun, a Bronx resident who was seated at a nearby sushi restaurant. “My plate actually shook.”

Facebook activated their safety check feature for the explosion, allowing users nearby to tag their safety.

screen-shot-2016-09-17-at-10-22-52-pm

The explosion comes hours after a pipe bomb exploded in Seaside Park, New Jersey near the Semper Fi 5K Charity Run Route. The device was also placed in a garbage can.

Photos posted to social media showed hundreds of people standing in the streets trying to figure out where the explosion came from.

People are urged to avoid the area as police search for other explosive devices.

Police have stopped all southbound traffic on Seventh Avenue at 34th Street.

The NYPD Counterterrorism Unit tweeted asking New Yorkers to remain vigilant and aware of their surroundings.

How To Pick A Good Hunting Knife

What makes a good hunting knife.  There are five basic aspects that are very important, steel that can hold an edge, type of build, handle fit and feel, shape and function of the blade and the carry sheath.

Lets look at each of these.

1) First, you need a good piece of steel.

The blade must hold and edge well and be durable. Quality damascus fits that requirement great. If you are in the market for a damascus knife know that, while it holds a great edge, it requires maintenance.

Damascus represents an art of design and a level of craftsmanship commitment that gets passed on to the owner.

how to pick the perfect hunting knife

The maintenance is not a big deal but if you know you are the type of guy who doesn’t appreciate your tools to that level you should go stainless.

If maintenance free is your goal there are a few stainless options. The most important thing, again, is to be sure you get one that holds an edge and is durable.

There are many stainless options on the market these days and while some are great, some are garbage. Remember, the point of stainless is less maintenance but you want to achieve that without much compromise of its blade function.

For my money, D2 tool steel is the best choice for a knife.

While it is just under being considered true stainless it needs very little care and will hold an edge like to other.

One draw back, some say, is that it is harder to sharpen than a cheaper steel and that is true, you must spend a little more time getting the edge.

But when you are in the field and need a knife to cut and finish the job it is your steel. Being able to sharpen the blade easily is a plus so stay away from multi-faceted edged blades.

2) Second, the knife should be a full tang.  Period.

3) Third, the handle has to have excellent hold-ability even when it is bloody, wet or covered in fat.

I prefer the timeless unfinished wooden handles.

However, they need to be maintained by oiling them once in a while. If not they will absorb blood etc and and they can dry out and crack over time.

Raw wood is in the same class as damascus so do some honest soul searching before committing to your knife purchase.

If you find you are a maintenance free guy new resin based materials, such as G10, are great. The benefits of G10 is it is impervious to liquids, stable and very durable. The cons is they are fairly unimpressive in looks.

Definitely function over form.

Different layering of G10 can create a unique and desirable look if you can find the product. KRYTON handles have good surface grip but it does absorb moisture.

When cleaning fish of butchering the blood and other fluids will absorb into the handle and eventually that can get nasty. The most important factor is control and that is achieved by a good hand fit to the handle.

An intentional ergonomic design that stays in place should be sought out.

4) Fourth, the shape of the blade will determine how it functions.

If you want an all purpose knife you will need a blade that is strong enough to separate joints yet has a tip that is nimble enough to fit in awkward places.

It is also needs to have some belly in the blade towards the tip of the knife for skinning. I would stay away from fad gut hooks, mostly rookies use them and they get in the way when butchering. They are also very hard to sharpen.

The people who like them do so for the look and not the function and I admit I have seen some cool looking gut hook knives but they ate not going with me in the field.

Also, you don’t want a blade that is too long. I find that anywhere between 5-8 inches in blade length works well for whitetail size game.

5) Another thing commonly overlooked is a good sheath.

Most modern hunters don’t wear there knives in the field. They throw them in their packs and pull them out when needed.

However, if you wear yours in the field be sure that sheath has a strap or at least be sure it holds the knife firmly in place.  Is sad to lose a $150 knife walking through the woods in the dark because you had a good knife resting in a poorly fitted sheath.

Follow these tips and you should end up with a knife that becomes a beneficial partner in the field for life.

Good luck and safe hunting this season from all of us at Bliss Knife Works.

Why Simple Living Is The Forgotten Key To Self Actualization

576399961_1491106f90_b

For the past ten years I have been pretty much into personal development. Well, as a teenager I was already a bit interested in not-so-mainstream topics such as the power of the human mind, psychic phenomena and plenty of other metaphysical topics. It comes to no surprise that my peers thought I was a bit weird, you know how it is. So when I got hooked on to personal development topics later on in life, I was already primed for certain ideas and insights. It came easier for me to hop on from one book or one topic to another without needing a stretch of time to digest certain ideas. I got pretty sucked into it. I read heaps of books, started off my blog Soul Hiker and wrote a few hundred articles to share my insights and experiences with others following the same path.

In those ten years of learning and practice, I did come a long way with a wealth of inner growth but also many pitfalls. What is more relevant is that I have also arrived at a solid practical realisation a kind of a key that unlocks some doors without having to knock them down really. That key is Simple Living or the idea of simplifying life in order to shed away what is unnecessary, inauthentic and a hindrance to your life purpose. The concept might seem obvious but somehow hidden none the less. Personal growth, or rather actualising your highest potential and becoming the best version of yourself, requires shedding off and letting go of things which are not authentically in line with your Soul agenda rather than putting in a lot of effort to learn or acquire something else. Its energy-wasting spending hours, days and weeks trying to relearn habits, boosting your confidence, visualising your goals, improving your creativity, doing soul searching, etc without first simplifying your life. Yes all these things and others are important personal development tools but I have realised that by doing one thing engaging in a path of Simple Living will make everything else effortless. This is particularly true to your goal of self-actualisation or becoming the best You.

So in a way, if we only tried to make life simpler and nothing else, its already a hundredfold better than trying hard to do other self-improvement stuff some of which perhaps fail, we give up on or take us a lot of persistence and struggle to achieve. I strongly believe that the message of Simple Living is a very important one and here are some of the reasons why:

Less Noise & Clutter:

In an online course I created about Simple Living, one of the most important lectures is one which has to do with clearing and decluttering spaces. Not just physical spaces around us (although this is also important) but our inner spaces too. In a way living a simpler life means managing your time and space better. Very often our spaces become cluttered and disordered, making life more difficult than it has to be.

On a physical level, this can be seen in cluttered living or working spaces, rooms in our homes or perhaps disorganised drawers, closets and desks. On an emotional and psychological level, this manifests as mental noise, unclear paths of action, conflicting ideas and lack of a clear purpose. So decluttering our inner and outer spaces will literally clear the obstructions for us (or others: hint) to move freely through them and this will resonate on all other levels of our life. Clearly there is much more to decluttering than routine it is a way of opening up to life.

Understanding what is Relevant:

Another important concept of simple living is understanding what is necessary vs. what isnt. It is about distinguishing between our real needs and socially suggested wants. Of course everyone is able to distinguish between the two but we dont most of the time because we live in a collective trance of consumerism and mass media.

When we start becoming more aware of how much our actions and decisions are influenced by society and culture, we start standing back from it all. It becomes more and more clear that a lot of the things we were made to believe were needs are nothing more than wants and we can do without because they are not authentic to our purpose. This clarity brings with it a sense of power and freedom. In itself it is the spirit of simple living.

So in a nutshell living simply involves being clear about what is relevant, necessary and needed rather than living in a haze or worse living out a social program just like automatons.

Finding Authenticity:

The last point naturally brings forth a more interesting topic that of living an authentic life. But what does living an authentic life really mean? In my view, living authentically means not being limited or confined to live out someone elses life or a social template laid down to us through our socialisation. It means being free of the fear of being judged or disapproved of by your peers and authorities. It means being free to follow your passions and purpose without being infected by those fear-based thoughts transmitted by others.

Creating Space for Inner Creativity:

Of course authenticity walks hand in hand with creativity. It is natural that creativity requires a degree of freedom from constraints and limited thinking. Free-thinker, artists and bohemians are considered to be creative because they live outside the norms and behavioural rules of society. They are often nonconformists because of this reason. But more importantly, creativity arises when there is enough space for it to flow through and also here I mean inner and outer space.

So having a simplified and clear environmental and inner spaces is conducive to more creativity. The reverse is also true. Try to work in a messy store room with machinery noise going on and see whether creativity comes knocking on your door!

Life Purpose in Focus:

People often ask me how is it that they can find their life purpose. Many times I jokingly reply that they are asking the wrong person since it took me a long while to discover mine but I know that a good part of the answer lies in simplicity. In other words, the less physical, mental and emotional obstructions one has in life, the more clear his or her life purpose comes into focus. There is no real mystery here. The perfect analogy to vision is obvious. If you try to look for something say your TV remote control in a disorganised and overcrowded room it is going to be more difficult then if there was nothing else in the room besides the remote control. In this scenario, the more you start shedding away the junk and stuff in the room, the better are the chances that what you are looking for comes into view. Same thing with your life purpose. If you are trying to be approved by others by living other peoples goals and standards, the less chance you have of coming close to understand what is authentically your life purpose.

On the other hand, with less obstructions along the way, what genuinely drives you becomes clearer, which brings me to the next point.

Understanding Yourself and Motivations:

Finding your life purpose might not always be a direct result of simplifying your life although a lot of times it is. Sometimes simplifying life brings us first closer to understanding ourselves and our inner motivations which then sheds more light on our true purpose.

Sometimes our motivations and drives are not clear because very often the mind and heart are in conflict or out of sync. With simplicity comes less noise and conflict which in turn makes it easier to have a better understanding of ourself and our motivations.

More Time or Better Management of It:

The natural companion to decluttering spaces is managing our time better. Admittedly, I was always at a loss when it comes to managing my time. But then I found that time is much easier to manage when you take away all those things, chores, pressures and activities which server no purpose. In reality when you are living a simpler life, time management is not so much of an issue anymore. Time management is more relevant when you are bombarded with a thousand chores and activities, the hallmark of a complicated and stress-laden modern lifestyle.

Simple living is moving in the opposite direction to this. So when you are doing only those things and activities which springs out from an authentic sense of passion and belonging, time management is simpler. Of course some time management skills still apply even in simple living in fact in my course I have also reserved space for this but it is not the rat-race time management sort of thing; its more of a further optimisation to an already focused and simple life.

How I Learned To Fall Asleep In Under 1 Minute

main.original

Sleepless and Stressed

It was the week before my best friends wedding, and my anxiety (nerves, plus excitement) had reached epic levels. I wasnt sleeping, to say the least. Part of that had to do with the maid of honor speech I would be giving. I was terrified and could not shut my brain off to fall asleep at night.

After day three of lying awake until the wee hours of the night, I sheepishly admitted to her that I was too nervous to fall asleep, and shethe bride, who was sleeping like a baby the week before her own weddingtold me I needed to try the 4-7-8 breathing trick.

She happens to be a licensed wellness practitioner who studies meditation, stress, and breathing techniques, and told me it would change my life. You simply breathe in through your nose for four seconds, hold your breath for seven seconds, and exhale through your mouth for eight seconds. She explained that the studied combination of numbers has a chemical-like effect on our brains, and would slow my heart rate and soothe me right to sleep that night. It works, she told me. Its crazy.

How it Works

I couldnt wait to put the trick to the test, and to my complete disbelief, I woke up the next morning unable to even remember getting to the eighth second of the exhale because it knocked me out that fast. For the next four nights leading up to the big day, even as my stress increased, I was able to fall asleep the minute I tried the 4-7-8 trick. I also used it to relax in the moments leading up to the speech.

When you feel stressed or anxious, adrenaline courses through your veins, your heart beats at a rapid rate, and your breathing becomes quick and shallow. So before I get into the specifics behind how the 4-7-8 breathing trick works, I wanted to explain in my own words what it feels like when you try it. To me, the effect of the breathing technique feels almost like a sedative drug, because in order to hold your breath for seven seconds and then to exhale for eightwhen your breath is so shallow and shortyour body is forced to slow your heart rate. It has no choice. Holding your breath, and then slowly, deliberately exhaling for eight seconds, causes a chain reaction. It feels like going from a mad-dash sprint to a finish line to a slow, leisurely, calming stroll through the park.

When you first start, youll be desperate to just take in another breath, or youll want to speed up your counting, but if you stick to the numbers (or at least try to), and dont take any breaks (in other words, consecutively repeat the 4-7-8 without resuming regular breathing), you can literally feelyour heart rate slow down, your mind get quieter, and your whole body physically relax. It washes over you like a calming, relaxing drug. I can never remember getting past the first set of 4-7-8.

Do you know the feeling of being put under by anesthesia, where you are conscious, and the next thing you remember is waking up? Thats what this is like for me: As soon as I start the practice, the next thing I remember, Im waking up in the morning and cant even remember beginning the 4-7-8 count the night before. Crazy.

Now to the more technical details: People who are stressed or anxious are actually chronicallyunder-breathing, because stressed people breathe shortly and shallowly, and often even unconsciously hold their breath. By extending your inhale to a count of four, you are forcing yourself to take in more oxygen, allowing the oxygen to affect your bloodstream by holding your breath for seven seconds, and then emitting carbon dioxide from your lungs by exhaling steadily for eight seconds. The technique will effectively slow your heart rate and increase oxygen in your bloodstream, and may even make you feel slightly lightheaded which contributes to the mild sedative-like effect. It will instantly relax your heart, mind, and overall central nervous system because you are controlling the breath versus continuing to breathe short, shallow gasps of air.

How it Can Work For You

Mindful breathing practices have been a part of yoga and Eastern wellness modalities for centuries, but arent as popular in Western culture. The most well-known champion of the 4-7-8 breathing technique in the U.S., who is somewhat responsible for the prevalence that the technique does have amongst integrative medicine practitioners, yogis, and those in search of stress reduction and overall relaxation, is Harvard-educated Dr. Andrew Weil.

Though Im not promising or claiming (nor does Dr. Weil) that practicing this breathing technique can fight disease or provide clinical benefits, I can tell you one thing: If it affects you like it did me, it will help you fall asleep way faster. Not only is it free, it also works for a number of different instances. In addition to using it to fall asleep in a pinch, you can practice it if you wake up in the middle of the night and find yourself thinking about something you have to do the next day, in order to fall back asleep; if you are nervous before an event (like a wedding, or giving a speech); if you are angry about something and want to calm down. My friend (the bride-to-be who slept like a baby the week before her wedding), who gets nervous to fly, uses it before flights and during if the plane encounters turbulence.

It is now what I use to fall asleep every single night, and each morning, Im amazed at how well it worked.

10 Excellent Ways To Start Your Day

start-the-day-motivated

We live in busy times when most of us have to work around 40 hours a week. In order to lead this kind of lifestyle, one should sort their time and energy properly throughout the whole day. Healthy morning rituals can really have a positive impact on the way you spend your day. Not everyone realizes that what you do and the way you think in the morning can affect your mood, motivation, energy and the way you do things throughout day.

It is of great importance to start your day the proper way in order to grow, feel happier and to be more productive. Read on for ideas on how to make the best of your mornings.

1. Early to bed, early to rise…

If you really want to improve your mornings and work on building some new healthy morning habits, you would probably need more time. Getting up earlier is a way to add an extra hour or so to your day. But if you love the peace and quiet the late nights provide you with and you have turned into a night owl, you would probably love the peace and quiet that the early mornings offer, too. Getting up before others gives you not only a feeling of satisfaction but also provides you with extra time to follow your morning rituals before you leave the house for work/school.

2. Stretching

Most people experience a feeling of stiffness right after waking up. This can be dealt with really easily by following a stretching routine every morning. There are so many benefits to stretching but you can only feel them if you stretch regularly. If you are not sure how to stretch properly, you can find tons of them on YouTube. Choose the ones that you think will suit you best and just do them every single morning. You will sense the change yourself.

3. Listening to music or an audiobook

Listening to your favorite songs in the morning is a great way to uplift your spirit and get prepared for an exciting new day. It sets a positive mindset and gets you pumped for an active day. Depending on the responsibilities and plans you have for the day, you can adjust the genres of music that you wish to start your day with. If you have planned a day for relaxation, music that is not too loud would be best. But still, it is a matter of choice. Another great source of inspiration in the morning is a good audiobook. Listening to one is a great option for a start of the day because it stimulates the imagination, works on your abilities to focus and can inspire you in a variety of ways. Plus, songs can often be catchy which can affect your work during the day, but audiobooks are less likely to influence your day in a negative way.

4. Drinking a glass of warm lemon water

Every day when you wake up your body is dehydrated because you havent drunk any water for about 8 hours while you were sleeping. This is why it is so important to rehydrate your body first thing in the morning. Avoiding that and having breakfast right after you have woken up isnt a good idea because the first thing your body really needs at that time of the day is water. Drinking a glass of warm water with freshly squeezed lemon juice is a perfect start of the day. This beverage helps your digestive system to prepare for the meals you are about to take during the day. Plus, the lemon makes water tastier. You can also add a spoon of honey to sweeten the sour taste of the lemon water.

5. Scraping Your Tongue

Along with brushing your teeth, scraping your tongue is a great way to improve your mouth hygiene. Once you try it, you wouldnt want to give it up. It does not only help you get rid of the unpleasant morning breath, but you would also taste your food better as it rids you of that film over your tongue that stays there even after you have brushed your teeth. If you dont know what to use for that purpose, you can either buy a toothbrush that comes with a tongue scraper on the back or a plastic triangle-shaped scraper. If you cant find either of these, you can simply use a spoon.

Nourishing, your body with fresh food that contains essential for the body minerals and vitamins, is a must if you want to start your day in a healthy way. That is why a green smoothie is one of the best choices for breakfast. It helps boost your immune system, boosts energy and satisfies your hunger. Making a green smoothie is an easy job. You just throw some spinach, kale and other green vegetables or fruit in the blender and voila! It is an easy way to provide your body with the much needed fiber, phytonutrients and minerals. Just remember not to eat anything else at least 30 minutes after you drink the green smoothie. Try this out and notice the change in the way your body feels during the day.

7. Rebounding on a mini trampoline

Rebounding 100 times is an excellent start of the day. Some of its benefits are that it wakes up your whole body, you train your balance, stimulates lymph movement, works every muscle group of your body, helps the functioning of your thyroid, reduces stress and so on. By the end of the 100th jump, you will feel your body tightened and your mind- awake.

8. Smiling in the mirror

It is amazing how smiling at yourself in the mirror in the morning can change your whole day. This sends signals to your brain that stimulate the release of hormones that make you feel happier. It also boosts your confidence and you feel more determined to go after your goals. It is a simple way to encourage yourself to do your best every day. Once you make it a habit, you will feel amazed of the way it changes your mindset. You become a more positive and happier person. Yes, that simple trick does wonders!

9. Dry brushing your body

This is an old Ayurvedic practice which can help the circulation and sloughs off the dead skin cells. Choose an exfoliating brush that is not too rough but also, not too soft, because otherwise it wont be able to do its thing. The way to do the brushing is to start from the area where your heart is, then move to the limbs and the rest of your body. After you have finished with this process, take a shower and apply body lotion in the end in order to keep that suppleness. Dry brushing your body can make your skin smoother, and you will feel it much nicer.

10. Todays top 3

Leading a busy lifestyle can trick you into forgetting which the most important things you need to do for the day are as you have so many responsibilities to do and plans to follow. Making it a habit to do a list of the top 3 most important things that you need to do before anything else will help you avoid the confusion when you do your tasks for the day. If you succeed with following the list of these three things every day, it will give you the feeling of fulfillment and it will become easier for you to differentiate the important activities from the others. Also, you would like to start small as it will be easier to follow that habit every day and after you make progress, you will simply feel more confident to replace the easier tasks with some bigger and bigger goals for the day.

Hidden Camera Records An Elderly Lady Alone At Home. What It Reveals Is Heartbreaking

sdfdsf2323f2f3f32f32f323f2

We are all going to grow old some day, if we are lucky enough to maintain relative good health. We may not make it to the age of 98, like Mary Tony, who is the subject of the video you are about to watch below. When you finish watching this heartbreaking video, it will give you pause, to think of elderly people you know who may be facing the terrible loneliness that Mary suffers.

The title of this video is Junk Mail, because when Mary is not at the senior center that she enjoys immensely, she has nothing to do and no one to talk to. She lives alone and no one comes to visit. She confides in the person interviewing her that [she] has to do something or [shell] go nuts so she cuts up junk mail, puts it in a bag and throws it away.

The film crew, known as Voyager, had a mission to gain a window into the life of a 98-year-old person, living out her life without any attention or interaction with her family. People need human contact and love from other human beings. Thankfully, Mary receives this at the senior center that she has started to attend. However, she is left with many empty hours where no one comes to see her, during which her loneliness is truly unbearable. Her family is too busy to see her. When the crew asks Mary how she feels about her living situation she responds, I dont mind. What am I going to do? Where could I go? I am by myself.

Marys story is not unlike many of the elderly who are ignored at the end of their lives. It is such an important reminder, of the impact of the difference made by a simple visit, every so often. Mary was so overwhelmed by a visit organized by the senior center, that she was brought to grateful tears, saying I love you all for coming..its made my day and Ill never forget this. Please SHARE Marys story with your family and friends on Facebook.

This Do It Yourself Heater Will Keep You Warm and Cut Energy Cost

feature_image_template15-620x400

Its that time of the year when cold snaps cripple large swaths of the United States and those heating bills go up and up and up. But did you know you can heat a small room with some candles and a clay or terracotta pot?

This candle powered do-it-yourself heater can reach radiant temperatures of 160 to 180 degrees Fahrenheit, and the pot itself remains warm for hours after youve blown the candles out. Be very careful when handling or moving the heater though; the inner chamber of the pot has been known to reach extremely high temperatures 500 degrees if you believe the video.

How does it work?

Ive encountered some people who were pretty skeptical of how well this home made heater works. This heater works by trapping and concentrating heat that would normally just rise to the ceiling and rapidly dissipate into the surrounding air. This method allows the heat to radiate out of the sides of the pot too. As mentioned before, the pot keeps warm for hours after youve blown the candles out.

eb0okov9qcq0q3vh8e82Will you be able to heat your whole house with it? Not by a long shot. But if you have a small bedroom, a bathroom that has trouble warming up in the winter, or even a shed that you like to work in, this can help increase the temperature by a good amount.source

U.S. Marine Exposes Truth About Paris Attack

kenneth

The tragic events that took place on 11/13/2015 has again changed the course of global history. A terror attack occurred, that according to some sources, could have been avoided and lives could have been spared.

In the video below, US Marine turned activist Kenneth OKeefe explains how America, Saudi Arabia and other countries are financing and enabling the terrorist who commit these atrocities.

Kenneth states: I believe that it is beyond any doubt, for any sensible person to realize that not only is the United States providing the financial cover, military cover, political cover, for these terrorists through our proxies, but weve also in a pure technical sense, provided the training for these people in Jordan and Turkey, another one of our best friends has been shuttling these psychopaths across the country from Turkey into Syria for a long time now.

7 Toxins Harming Your Brain Right Now

download

Some of the most common substances found in everyday life are harming our cognitive function right now. Along with pesticides, you have substances like BPA, phthalates, mercury, lead, benzene, and flame retardants that are affecting you, even if you dont realize it. Hidden in your home and office, you are exposed to toxic chemicals on a daily basis, and your brain is taking the brunt of it.

7 Toxins Harming Your Brain

Your brain interacts with every aspect of your body, giving directions to cells and the nervous system. It is essential for supporting good mood and clear thinking, helping to improve your overall quality of life. Here are seven of the most harmful and pervasive toxins you should look out for in order to support brain health.

1. BPA

BPA is a known endocrine disruptor that interferes with how your body regulates hormones. Not only does it affect reproductive health, but it can also affect brain function, learning abilities, and how your memory works. [1] And its not just plastic that contains BPA; items that are BPA free arent always much better. The substitutes used for BPA (Bisphenol F and S or BPF and BPS) have been linked to behavioral issues, as well. [2]

2. Phthalates

Phthalates are present in more everyday things than you might think. Similarly to BPA, phthalates are found in many products that contain plastic and things like household cleaners, cosmetics, personal hygiene products, and even food. There is a wide variety of phthalates, but the most notable versions are BBzP (butyl benzyl phthalate), DnBP (dibutyl phthalate), and DEHB (di-2-ethyl hexyl phthalate).

Phthalates have been linked to ADHD, asthma, diabetes, neurodevelopmental problems, and more. [3] California is spearheading the move against phthalates by asking that four specific types must be listed on labels (many do not have to be listed at all). Even big corporations like Target and WalMart have promised to reduce the amount of or even eradicate the use of harmful toxins like phthalates in products they stock.

3. Mercury

Ive covered the dangers of mercury extensively in other articles. The base reason is that it has been linked to kidney problems, respiratory failure, and other neuromuscular complications; however, the elemental form of mercury is the most toxic. [4] Due to this knowledge, many people have switched off from thermometers and other products containing mercury.

4. Lead

Lead poisoning isnt a problem of yesterday, its a problem today a huge problem. The biggest issue is that lead affects so many parts of the body in such harmful ways. Not only can it affect organs and tissues, but it can affect whole systems of the body like the digestive, reproductive, and nervous systems. You absolutely need to take conscious steps to reduce your exposure to lead, including making your home safer for your children.

5. Benzene

Benzene is found in fuel and motor vehicle exhaust, but can also be found in detergents and pharmaceuticals. [5] Why is something so problematic used so frequently? Benzene is even classified as carcinogen, [6] its highly flammable, and benzene poisoning can pass from mother to fetus. The best way to reduce your exposure to benzene is to distance yourself from gasoline or waste plants and to avoid cigarette smoke at all costs. As quoted by the CDC, Average smokers take in about 10 times more benzene than nonsmokers each day. [7] Just one more reason not to smoke!

6. Flame Retardants

Normally, something that helps to quell a fire is heralded as useful and sometimes heroic. However, a disturbing discovery was made by a researcher from Texas. The discovery showed that flame retardants were found in the breast milk of American women. [8] How could this happen? It turns out that flame retardants can be found virtually anywhere in food, furniture, and building materials. Were around these items every day and breathe in the toxins that emanate throughout the day.

Attributed to the spread of human civilization, its unbelievable just how widespread traces of flame retardant chemicals are. Not even bald eagles are safe. Out of 33 dead eagles tested from 2009 to 2011, every one but two had all four flame retardant components for which scientists were testing. [9] Its important to educate yourself about flame retardant compounds and make sure theyre not abundant in your home. [10]

7. Pesticides

Mostly everyone is familiar with the negative effects of pesticides, but new developments further strengthen the argument against using pesticides on foods we consume. Perhaps the biggest and most shocking development to come to light is that pesticide exposure is now linked to Parkinsons disease. [11] The best way to avoid undue exposure to pesticides is to choose organic food!

Protecting Your Brain

Now that youre a bit more informed about seven toxins you might not have known about before, you can get started on protecting yourself from the harmful effects, both short term and long term. Turmeric shows powerful antioxidant protection for the brain, and its often advised to take this in extract form to ensure best results. Eating an organic diet, reducing the use of furniture made with flame retardants, and using glass containers instead of plastic are also helpful steps.

Home Remedies For Vomiting

vomiting

Vomiting is generally not a serious health problem. Most often, it is your bodys reaction to a temporary problem. Some of the main causes behind vomiting are excessive eating, pregnancy, drinking too much alcohol, food poisoning, viral infections, and stomach disorders.

Some of the warning signs vomiting may be excess salvia in the mouth, dizziness, fluctuating body temperature and increased heartbeat. If you notice these signs, try some of these easy and simple home remedies.

Here are the top 10 home remedies for vomiting.

1. Ginger

Ginger is good for your digestive system and blocks unnecessary secretion in the stomach that can cause vomiting. It works as a natural anti-emetic. To prevent vomiting:

    • Try some ginger tea with a little sugar or eat some fresh gingerbread or fresh ginger slices with salt.
    • Alternatively, you can mix one teaspoon each of ginger juice and lemon juice and consume it several times a day.
    • Another simple alternative is to chew a piece of fresh ginger with or without honey.

2. Rice Water

Rice water helps alleviate vomiting, especially when it is caused by gastritis. While preparing rice water, use white rice not brown rice as it is rich in starch and easier to digest.

    • Boil a cup of rice in one to one and a half cup of water.
    • Strain the solution.
    • Drink this rice water.

3. Cinnamon

Cinnamon helps to treat nausea as well as vomiting. Pregnant women should not use this remedy.

    1. In a cup of boiling water, add one-half teaspoon cinnamon powder or one cinnamon stick and steep for a few minutes.
    2. Strain the water and sweeten it with one tablespoon of honey. Sip it slowly.
    3. Do this at least two to three times a day.

4. Mint

Mint tea can provide relief from vomiting.

    • To make mint tea, add one tablespoon of dried mint leaves to a cup of boiling water. Steep it for half an hour, strain it and your tea is ready.
    • You can chew the mint leaves used for making the tea. If fresh mint leaves are available, you can even chew them to cure vomiting.
    • You can make an alternative soothing solution by combining one teaspoon lemon juice to mint juice and have it at regular intervals.

5. Vinegar

The smell of vomit can sometimes cause more vomiting.

    • To freshen your breath and prevent further vomiting, rinse your mouth with one teaspoon of vinegar diluted in half a cup of water.
    • Apple cider vinegar also can help stop repeated vomiting. Mix one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and one tablespoon of honey in a glass of water. Drink it twice daily.

6. Clove

Cloves have antiseptic and anesthetic properties that help in digestion and can also cure vomiting.

    • You can chew some raw cloves or use a few cloves to make a cup of tea to treat vomiting.
    • You can also put a few drops of clove oil in a glass of warm water and drink it slowly.
    • Another way to use cloves during vomiting is to mix the powder of dried cloves with honey and swallow it.

7. Aniseed

Aniseed has many medicinal properties and can help treat vomiting.

    • Simply chew a teaspoon of aniseed for some quick relief.
    • You can drink a cup of herbal tea. Put one-half teaspoon of aniseed in half a cup of boiling water. Steep for a few minutes and strain it before drinking it.
    • You can also sprinkle roasted aniseed on mild vegetables such as carrots or pumpkin.

8. Cumin

One of the best and easiest home remedies for vomiting is cumin.

    • Mix one-half tablespoon of grounded cumin seeds with water and drink it.
    • You can also mix one teaspoon of cumin seeds and a pinch of nutmeg in a cup of boiling water and let it steep for a few minutes. Strain the mixture and then drink it.
    • Add some cumin powder and cardamom powder to one teaspoon of honey and take it slowly.

9. Onion Juice

Onion juice can help combat nausea and vomiting.

    • Mix one teaspoon of onion juice with one teaspoon of grated ginger.
    • Swallow this mixture at regular intervals to cure vomiting.
    • You can also drink some onion juice followed by a cup of cold peppermint tea. The unique combination of onion juice and peppermint will soothe your stomach and help ease vomiting.

10. Milk

Milk can also be used to treat vomiting but you must not drink it alone.

  • You can drink milk along with a light and easy-to-digest snack such as soda crackers.
  • You can also opt for milk toast, which is easy to make and good for your stomach. Heat one cup of milk until warm and put it in a bowl. Take a piece of toast, slightly buttered, and add it to the milk. Eat it slowly.

These natural remedies should help make you feel better. If your condition does not improve, consult your doctor.

Relationships The Four Golden Threads

Relationships-The-Four-Golden-Threads-Couple-300x201

I no longer believed in the idea of soul mates, or love at first sight. But I was beginning to believe that a very few times in your life, if you were lucky, you might meet someone who was exactly right for you. Not because he was perfect, or because you were, but because your combined flaws were arranged in a way that allowed two separate beings to hinge together. ~ Lisa Kleypas

In order for an intimate relationship to be healthy and sustainable, The Four Golden Threads Physical, Emotional, Intellectual and Spiritual need to be active and connected between two people. When entering into an intimate relationship, many people dont pause long enough to make sure that all of these threads are lit up and in alignment with their partner. This simple misstep can lead to short-term pain or long-term misery, especially when two mismatched partners get married and have children together. Ultimately, whats missing in the beginning will be the thing that derails the relationship in the end.

Think about it. In the beginning of a relationship when everything is new and fresh, we often tell ourselves, So what if everythings not quite what were looking for? However, over time, little bits of compromise creep in. We see what we want to see and ignore the rest. Its usually months or years later, in retrospect that we see that the clues of what went wrong were always there; we just chose not to pay attention to them.

Grace and Hope

Not long ago, Grace, a client of mine, told me the story of her recent marriage and divorce. Graces husband was a lifelong friend that reappeared in her life after his marriage broke up. They got together and the relationship moved very quickly too quickly for her but as she put it, she got swept along by it. Then when he got down on his knee to propose in front of her family, she was too embarrassed to say no. Grace ignored her intuition, which told her to wait, and she ended up selling her much-loved Seattle condo, moving away from her family and setting up house in Kansas.

During the first few years of Graces marriage, the red flags she should have heeded began to reveal themselves, and she knew shed made a terrible mistake. Ironically, one of her best sources of solace was her husbands ex-wife. She understood what Grace was dealing with better than anyone, and the two became fast friends.

All the while, Grace knew she only had herself to blame. Well into her forties, this was her first marriage. Her fear of embarrassment and being judged by her family was so strong that she willingly ignored her inner voice and walked into a situation that she knew might not work.

There are thousands of similar stories out there. The point is to slow down, listen and observe. It can be so easy when were swept up in the excitement of a new relationship and the promise of companionship, to compromise and ultimately sacrifice our own needs and values in the false hope that things will change.

News flash: they usually dont!

Lets first examine each of The Four Golden Threads with special attention to the impact of their absence:

Physical

If we enter a relationship with a weak or absent physical connection, what might that look like?

  • No chemistry
  • No passion or excitement
  • No playful flirting and fun
  • No meaningful or close feelings of intimacy
  • No deep levels of affection

Emotional

If we enter a relationship with a weak or absent emotional connection, what might that look like?

  • No shared vulnerability
  • No healing of emotional wounds
  • No understanding of your emotional states
  • No compassion or empathy for your experience
  • No real nurturing or heartfelt affection

Intellectual

If we enter a relationship with a weak or absent intellectual connection, what might that look like?

  • No one to share your big picture interests
  • No one to talk with for long hours into the night
  • No one to share your favorite movies, music, theater, books, etc.
  • No one to continually pique your interest and curiosity
  • No one to learn new things from

Spiritual

If we enter a relationship with a weak or absent spiritual connection, what might that look like?

  • No shared values or vision
  • No one to witness your experiences
  • No one to support you as you navigate the inner realms
  • No one to see and recognize your Higher Self
  • No spiritual companion

Its much easier to see when spelled out this way. Once you recognize the warning signs, you might not want to get involved with someone you thought was a perfect partner after all. Far better to open your eyes, get some clarity before you make a long-term commitment and find yourself in the land of regret. In addition, when one of The Four Golden Threads is missing, youll always have that gnawing feeling in the core of your being telling you somethings wrong.

Examining The Four Golden Threads helps us to move this subject out of the closet, where its vague and hidden, into the light to be seen. Once illuminated, we can recognize our patterns of behavior.

Why then, are so many of us willing to compromise and leave one of these four threads out? More than likely its due to the following:

  • Fear of being alone
  • Wanting someone (anyone) to share lifes experiences with
  • Not believing that someone with all four areas of compatibility is out there
  • Impatience
  • A lack of trust in life
  • A desire to escape from ones self
  • Pressure from friends and family to be in a relationship
  • A willingness to settle for less than you deserve

This list helps to clarify something that can be difficult to see and opens up the possibility of making different choices going forward.

Now that weve shed some light on what can happen when one of The Four Golden Threads is missing, lets imagine what it would be like to partner with someone with whom all Four Golden Threads connect.

Your Partner…

  • … shares vulnerabilities with you
  • … is willing to help you heal your emotional wounds
  • … understands your emotional states
  • … is compassionate and has empathy for your experience
  • … shares your interests
  • … supports your creative expression
  • … enjoys talking with you for long hours into the night
  • … enjoys sharing your favorite movies, music, theater, books with you
  • … continually piques your interest and curiosity
  • … is attracted to you
  • … enjoys meaningful or close feelings of intimacy with you
  • … frequently expresses deep levels of affection with you
  • … has chemistry with you
  • … shares and supports your beliefs, values and life purpose
  • … wants to witness your experiences
  • … supports you as you navigate the inner realms
  • … loves you unconditionally, both your gifts and your wounds

This may sound idealistic and a bit too good to be true, however, when you look at the option of leaving one of those things out, it doesnt seem even worth pursuing a relationship like that. Does this mean we need to seek the impossible in a partner? Do we need to look for the perfect match?

No, neither of those things.

It means we need to look for the perfect partner for us. Were not looking for a pie-in-the-sky dream partner, were looking for someone whose gifts and wounds match well with our own. In other words, when you meet someone with whom all Four Golden Threads connect, you have the opportunity to get to know this persons innate gifts and wounds, to love and accept the good with the bad and to work with all of it, because the blessings are so damn worth it.

The trick is to enter into the relationship fully cognizant of the fact that in order for a relationship to be healthy, fulfilling and sustainable for both parties, all four threads need attention and nurturing. Ignore one and the relationship will, without a doubt, fail or be severely handicapped.

As humans we need to connect with all four threads to feel whole and truly express who we are.

To take this to an even higher level, ideally we want to be partnering with someone who is aligned with our life purpose, supporting us to authentically express our gifts and deepest passions so that our lives are rich and meaningful. This way of living is energizing and fuels us.That way, the relationship is not a source of energy, but rather a place to share ourselves. It becomes a shared journey rather than a place to get all of our needs met. Its also a place where we can share our deepest fears and pain so they can be witnessed and healed. A good relationship will allow for a high level of trust, so that vulnerability comes naturally, hastening the healing process.

How sad that we were not taught how to use our most intimate relationships as a context for deep inner work and healing! Alas, many come to this place late in life and pay lots of money to do workshops, seminars and retreats to sort out the inner mess, not suspecting that when they return from those experiences, theyll have to reconcile these issues in their relationships. This is a missed opportunity because while weekend workshops are great, the wisdom and insights dont usually stick, which is why its better to work through issues in the ongoing workshop of our relationships.

All relationships are sacred love combined with respect. All life is asking of us is to treat others and ourselves with love and respect. With The Four Golden Threads as our guide, we can partner with another in a way that nurtures and inspires us, and supports us to live the life of our highest joy.

If You Poke Your Phones Battery With A Knife This Happens

cell-phone-knife

Let me say at the outset, DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME! Just about all of us carry cell phones that contain lithium-ion batteries (also known as Li-ion batteries), and we would never even remotely think of our phones as being flammable.

The person who made this video was obviously fascinated with seeing what would happen if he poked his cell phone with a sharp knife, into the battery itself. Although it is highly unlikely that our phones would ever spontaneously combust, watching what happens in this video took my breath away.

Although, with the current batteries we certainly have no reason to be concerned about flammability under normal circumstances, it might be a good thing to have a safer option to these Li-ion batteries. Something was discovered recently, by researchers who were attempting find a material to use on the bottom of ships, that would prevent marine life from attaching to the bottoms. In their research they made an incidental finding of a way to make non-flammable Li-ion batteries. PFPE is a material that has a similar chemical structure of the electrolyte used in the current batteries. It is being tested with the hope that they will be a marketable alternative, so that the batteries in cell phones will no longer have combustable potential. When you watch how quickly the phone blows up when prodded in this video, you may agree that it would be good to find a non-flammable alternative. It was definitely a bit scary how rapidly the phone went up in flames.

Go From Stressed to Sane with a Life Detox

Even though we know Albert Einstein was right when he defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results, most of us continue to do the same old things and think the same old thoughts, while hoping for life to be different.

medium_4057782618

We do the things we do because habits are comfortable. Change on the other hand, isnt.

Lisa Wimberger, founder of the Neurosculpting Institute, says, If you commit to changing your thoughts, behaviors and patterns over 40 days, you are guaranteed to see amazing results.

Doctors say transitional seasons, such as, fall and spring are wonderful times to detox your body.

With all this in mind, there are plenty of things you can do right now to begin to completely change your life.

In my 40 day personal reboot program, we tackle six areas of life to detox. Here are six steps you can take right now.

1. Home detox.

Our home should be a sanctuary we walk into at the end of the day sighing with relief, yet too often we close the door behind us and groan. When we dont love our environment, it affects our emotions.

Why?

Belongings hold memories. Take a look around right now. Im betting you can place exactly who you were with and what you were doing in life when you bought that dress or bed.

Depending on the memory, your mood is affected. Look at a dress or a suit you bought to wear with an ex, and memories come to the surface.

When we hold on to stuff just in case we might need it someday, we not only clutter our space, but also buy into poverty consciousness. Holding on to things we dont use, or things that dont work, reinforces the belief that were not capable to replace, borrow, or rent what we need when we need it.

So your assignment?

Go through your home and let go of anything you dont love, use or want anymore.
Recycling, selling or giving away your stagnant stuff, opens the door for change to flow in.

Not sure where to start? Fill a bag with 29 things from one room. Trust me, its far easier than you might expecteven if you arent a clutter lover.

2. Do a body image detox through ritual.

Mix some sugar with raw coconut oil and your favorite essential oils to make a paste.
Then hop in your shower and start to scrub yourself down with the following ritualistic twist in mind:

Imagine as you scrub that youre scrubbing away any negative thoughts youve had about each body part. Imagine youre eliminating any touch that was less than loving from your past. Imagine yourself scrubbing away the criticisms your body has endured.

Im betting if you lost your left leg tomorrow, youd wish for that chubby little thigh back wouldnt you? If we want to change our life, we need healthy self-esteem. Honoring your body builds self-esteem.

3. Time for an internal detox between your ears.

You did not come out of the womb thinking your legs were too short and chubby.

Self-criticisms and self-doubt were learned.

I want you to light a candle, make yourself something warm to drink and settle in with paper and pen.

Next, write down a list of every critical thought you have, or have heard about yourselfall of them. Once you begin this process, more and more thoughts will come to mind, you may even see the faces of the people who first said them to you.

When repetitive thoughts come to mind, go ahead and write them again. Were peeling back an onion here.

Now the important part.

You are going to become an urban shaman in your own bathroom.

Read through your list of critical thoughts and rip them to shreds. Then get yourself into your bathroom, light a candle, and burn those strips of paper over your toilet until you cant hold on to them any longer and drop them where they belonginto the loo. When youre doneflush.

In author Judith Orloffs book Second Sight, she states: The practice of ritual has proved of great value for many of my patients.

When we put our thoughts down on paper, we get them out of our heads and into the physical. When we destroy them through ritual, we get to witness their transformation into oblivion.

TheDetoxMarket

4. Relationship Detox.

Business Insider writes: Motivational speaker Jim Rohn famously said that we are the average of the five people we spend the most time with.

I couldnt agree more. Make a list of the five people you hang out with most. How do you feel when you spend time with them? Energized? Motivated? Exhausted? Sad?

Start to limit your time with the energy suckers. Youve only got so much time in life, spend it with people who inspire you, love you, and bring out the best in you.

5. Wallet detox.

T. Harv Ecker taught in his book Millionaire Mind that we take on the beliefs of our parents.

So do an inventory. Ask yourself: What was my mothers relationship to money? How did she spend it? What were her thoughts around it? Was there enough of it? Was she responsible or irresponsible? Are you mimicking her, or doing the opposite in hopes of not becoming her? Is this serving you?

Write your answers down and repeat this with your father in mind.

When we bring our subconscious beliefs to the surface, they dont run us anymore. We get to choose whether or not we want to model our money practices after our parents, or if we want to choose differently.

6. Time to detox your plate.

Eat right, not less.

The correct ratio of protein, carbs and fat at every meal and snack causes metabolism to burn hot.

According to Dr. Barry Sears, author of The Zone, You can make sure your insulin and other inflammation-promoting hormones stay in the zone, not too high or low, by eating foods at every meal in the right proportions: 40 percent carbs, 30 percent protein, and 30 percent fat. The body needs the right balance of these nutrients to stay healthy, slim, and operate at peak performance.

Eating every few hours also stokes your metabolism to burn cleanly and efficiently. We should be hungry every few hours according to LiveStrong.com.

Change may not be easy, but its possible. Habits that keep us stuck in life are made in each moment and day by day. Undoing those habits takes the same path. Small changes daily add up to huge results.

Awesome Origami Pots Grow With Your Plants

London-based designers have invented an origami pot that grows with your plant!

plants2

Gardeners with green thumbs know that as a plant grows, it will at some point need to be transferred to a larger container. But thanks to London-based designers Studio Alaskan, a solution to this inconvenience now exists: an origami-based pot that evolves with the plant over time.

Called GROWTH, the shape-shifting object is no doubt the perfect companion to a plant as it grows from seedling stage to full maturation.

plants3

As shared on MyModernMet, Studio Ayaskan feels that natures self-sustaining qualities are often at odds with humans and our manufactured merchandise. Our race tends to be proud about producing things, using them until theyve been exhausted, and later discarding them in favor of newer items. In nature, however, everything adapts, grows, dies, and is eventually reused to form new life.

Nothing stands still. Everything flows, the designers explain.

In order to create the origami pots, GROWTH uses a carefully calculated pattern to mimic what nature has mastered. As you can see in the photos, the pot transforms with the plant, something not usually witnessed in inanimate objects.

plants4

In nature, everything evolves, adapts, grows, blooms, degrades, dies, gets absorbed, reused, the designers, Bike and Begum Ayaskan, told Contemporist. The modern approach to building is the opposite. Here, things exist in stages: objects are produced, used, discarded… Growth, through its carefully calculated origami pattern, mimics natures ability to grow and transform by unfolding over time, bringing these qualities to the manufactured object.

8 Signs Youre Meant For Something Bigger On This Planet

bee-happy

Ive known since I was very young that I was destined for big things. I mean really. The first thing I knew I wanted to be when I grew up was the Easter Bunny. And Im Jewish. Now as you cut through your giggles, heres what Im pretty sure I actually meant by that I knew from very early on that societal constraints, shoulds, and rules didnt really mean anything. I could be and do anything I wanted.

And then I found road blocks; or maybe just the speed bumps of life. I kept reaching for more, but encountered fear, doubt, challenging situations, and naysayers. Thankfully, I never stopped believing. I always knew it was possible to live into the vastness of my visions, and become as big as I wanted. Its taken time to align the my beliefs with this truth inside of me so that I could live into my knowing, but its been worth it.

And Im definitely not alone. This beautiful planet is crawling with those of us who want to make a difference; who know we are capable of anything. Some of us are there living it fully, some are in the midst of the dance of taking a few steps forward and a couple of steps back (hint: good old self sabotage; something I know well), and others are just beginning to wake up to the realization that this knowing has been inside of them all along, and its time to do something about it. But no matter where you are, fear not. Often its just the stuff we think gets in our way thats actually supporting us in getting there! So, to prove it to you, Ive compiled 8 signs that point out that likelihood that youre probably meant for something bigger; and that youre destined to get there.

1. You suck at working for other people.

Youre a born leader and you know it. Or maybe you dont know it. But either way, youre just NOT into doing things that arent catalyzing big change. You feel stuck working for others. You want freedom, flexibility, creativity, and expansion, and you just dont feel you can fully achieve that while working for someone else. You know that your vision is worth something, and that getting to apply ALL of your gifts is the only way youll be fully satisfied.

2. You tend to put things off until youre really inspired.

So you call yourself a procrastinator. There is such a thing as self sabotaging procrastination, but if youre meant for something bigger (which, if youre reading this, I have a sneaking suspicion you are), there will also be times when you believe you must get something done because thats what you think is going to get you from point A to point B. But what if you actually thrive off of inspiration, versus obligation? You deserve to be able to evaluate which is true for you in each moment. Is fear holding you back from chipping away at your to-do list? Or is it because youre lacking inspiration. If its the latter, trust that doing exactly what youre inspired to do is leading you to where you need to be. Often that inspiration knows more than we do about whats really possible.

3. As a kid you thought adults who wore suits and went off to work were crazy.

Youve always known somewhere deep within you that there was more to life than living a cookie-cutter, safe, pragmatic lifestyle. You knew you could have a bigger impact on the world if you did it your way, and that your way would involve more freedom and flexibility than those crazy adult-types had. And now, whether youve fully achieved it yet or not, you know that that feeling you had as a kid is utterly true. Youve witnessed and felt what its like to live just as much on purpose in your flip flops as you have your business suit.

4. You love what you do so much youd do it for free.

Heres the irony you deserve to know your value, and the more you begin to charge your full value for the contribution youre making to the world, the more value those you serve will actually receive. However, you know youre on purpose and meant to do big things when you love what you do so much that while youre doing it money is not even on your mind.

5. Youre an idealist. You see the world at its best, and will stop at nothing to get there.

When I was a kid I used to get called an idealist all the time. At first I thought it was a compliment. Id think yeah thats right, it is possible for the world to be that loving and amazing. Then, toward early adulthood I began to get triggered by the word, as if people were saying that I couldnt actually achieve that; that the world wasnt actually supposed to be the amazing place I knew it could be. Now, I could care less what people think or call me. My name is Jordanna, and I am an idealist. By living in my own little world of my vision and my creations, my personal world often actually appears as ideal as I know one day the entire world can be. So really, who cares whats true and whats not if Im having fun and serving others while doing it? Being an idealist doesnt make you crazy, it makes you a creator.

6. You cant always say how you know things, but sometimes you just know.

Visionaries dont usually get their visions from whats outside of them or from what the world tells them they should create. They get their visions from an internal drive to create what feels right for them. That knowing of what they need to create goes hand in hand with a knowing of all sorts of things. Call it intuition, call it gut feeling, call it spidey senses. If you are meant for something bigger in this world, that knowing will keep speaking up and asking you for what it wants. So really, creating big things is not an option when its your destiny. At least, thats what Im pretty sure your spidey senses would tell you.

7. You feel things. Big time.

Most of the clients I work with you are meant for big things in the world tend to feel pretty deeply. You may not have been taught that its okay to feel. You may have been taught, in fact, that your feelings will get in the way of being awesome. Well, lets reframe that. Sometimes our feelings are our TRUTH. Your ability to be big, and contribute to the world in a huge way is dependent upon your truth. So allow your feelings to show up, and to guide you to where you need to be. Your creations depend upon it.

8. Youre more frustrated by having too many ideas than you are by not having any at all.

You tend to get inspired easily. In fact, the more awesome your life becomes, the more inspired YOU become. But sometimes its a bit of a conundrum. You know youre meant to create big things, but if youre not careful you can allow yourself to get stopped up by ALL of the things you want to create, without actually getting anything done. Dont let this get to you. Be grateful that youre so full of awesome ideas. If youre not sure where to start or what to focus on, call upon some support. But dont let your plethora of visions within your vision get in the way.

Be not afraid of greatness. Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and others have greatness thrust upon them. ~ William Shakespeare

And heres the caveat, I actually believe that were all meant for big things if we allow ourselves to listen to the stirring of our soul. When we let go of perfect timing, and recognize that too late does not exist, it becomes easier to allow that stirring to become a rising up of awesome. Ive coached 13 year olds and 70+ year olds into living their visions. If they can do it, so can you.

What other signs have you seen show up in your life that are calling you to something bigger?

5 Reasons Why Intelligent People Have The Hardest Time Finding Love

1200x600

You tend to be a little too analytical.

Theres more to a partner than sex organs that go well together, and smart people are all too aware of the fact. They often analyze the crap out of their dates. They wonder about their future, the best way to cultivate romance, and are obsessed with finding the right person. This isnt exactly a bad thing.

They know its better to be alone than with the wrong partner.

And theres no shame in that either. Smart people are so dead set on finding the right partner that theyll abstain all together if necessary.

They are aware that relationships often end.

This isnt exactly a cynical thing. They just know the brutal truth is that most relationships wont work out. As a result, they sometimes take things a little too slow and have trouble committing. But the right partner will understand that.

Smart people tend to be intimidating.

Its not just that smart people are intimidating to dumb-dumbs, but to other intelligent people as well. They might be uncomfortable with the fact that you excel in areas of life they dont. You may also experience that concern, leaving you a little uncomfortable.

You know to protect yourself.

The sharper people in this world are often keenly aware of the danger in any given situation, and that includes dating. They play it cool, cautious, and tend to put up barriers to protect themselves.

14 Lies Your Mind Tells You to Prevent Life Changes

face-636092_1280

The mind is a wonderful thing.

Its also a complete liar that constantly tries to convince us not to take actions we know are good for us, and stops many great changes in our lives.

Ive had to learn to watch these rationalizations and excuses very carefully, in order to make the changes Ive made in my life: a healthier diet, regular exercise, minimalism, writing daily, getting out of debt, quitting smoking, and so on.

If I hadnt learned these excuses, and how to counter them, I would never have stuck to these changes. In fact, I failed many times before 2005 (when I started changing my life), because these excuses had complete power over me.

Lets expose the cowardly minds excuses and rationalizations once and for all.

First, the main principle: the mind wants comfort, and is afraid of discomfort and change. The mind is used to its comfort cocoon, and anytime we try to push beyond that comfort zone very far or for very long, the mind tries desperately to get back into the cocoon. At any cost, including our long-term health and happiness.

OK, with that in mind, lets go into the excuses:

1. I cant do it.

It seems too hard, so we think we cant stick to the change. We dont believe in ourselves. This can be countered from the fact that many other people no more capable than us have done it. For example, Oprah ran a marathon a little before I started training for my first marathon, and so I told myself, If Oprah can do it, so can I! I was right.

2. He/she can do it, but that doesnt apply to me.

Just because someone else can do it, doesnt mean we can, right? We look for reasons they can do it but we cant maybe he can be a minimalist because he has no kids, or is a freelancer rather than someone with a real job. Maybe shes way, way fitter than I am, so she can run a marathon. Maybe she doesnt have all the obligations I have, or has a supportive spouse, or doesnt have a crippling health condition. OK, fine, its easy to find excuses: but look at all the other people who have worse obstacles than you whove done it. I have 6 kids and still managed to change a lot of things in my life. Stories abound of people with disabilities or illnesses who overcame their obstacles to achieve amazing things. Your obstacles can be overcome.

3. I need my ___.

Fill in the blank: I need my coffee, my cheese, my soda, my TV shows, my car, my shoe collection … these are things we convince ourselves we cant live without, so we cant make a change like becoming vegan or eating healthier or unschooling our kids or simplifying our lives or going car-free. And Ive made these excuses myself, but they all turned out to be lies. I didnt need any of that. The only things you really need are basic food, water, clothing, shelter, and other people for social needs. Everything else is not a real need.

4. Life is meant to be enjoyed.

Sure, I agree with this statement (as many of us would) but the problem is this is used to justify all kinds of crappy behavior. Might as well scarf down those Doritos and Twinkies, because hey, life is meant to be enjoyed, right? No. You can do without junk food and still enjoy life. You can exercise and enjoy it. You can give up pretty much anything and still enjoy life, if you learn to see almost any activity as enjoyable.

5. I need comfort.

This might also be true, but we can push ourselves into more discomfort than we let ourselves believe. We can be a bit cold, instead of needing to be at the perfect comfortable temperature. We can do hard exercise, instead of needing to lay around on the couch. We can write that thing weve been procrastinating on it might be hard, but we can push through that. When our minds seek comfort, dont let them run push a little bit outside the comfort zone, and begin to be OK with a bit of discomfort.

6. I dont know how.

This is also true, but you can learn. Start with a little at a time, and learn how to deal with this new change. Do some research online. Watch some videos. Ask people online how they dealt with it. This is easily overcome with a little effort and practice. In fact, if you do it now, and learn a little at a time, then youll be able to do away with this pesky excuse.

7. I can do it later.

Sure, you can always do it later … but your later self will also feel the same way. Why should the later self be more disciplined than your current self? In fact, because youre allowing yourself to slide now, youre building a habit of procrastination and actually making is less likely that your future self will be more disciplined. Instead, do it now, unless theres something more important that you need to do … dont let yourself slide just because you dont feel like it.

8. One time wont hurt.

This is so tempting, because its kind of true one time wont hurt. Assuming, that is, that its only one time. One bite of chocolate cake, one missed workout, one time procrastinating instead of writing. Unfortunately, its never actually just one time. One time means your brain now knows it can get away with this excuse, and the next one time leads to another, until youre not actually sticking to something. Make a rule: never ever believe the one time excuse. I did this with smoking (Not One Puff Ever) and it worked. If youre going to allow yourself a bite or two of chocolate cake, decide beforehand and build it into your plan (I will allow myself a fist-sized serving of sweets once every weekend) and stick to that plan, rather than deciding on the fly, when your resistance is weak.

9. I dont feel like it.

Well, true. You dont feel like working hard. Who does? Letting the rule of Ill do it when feel like it dictate your life means youll never write that book, never build that business, never create anything great, never have healthy habits. Create a plan thats doable, and execute it. When the rationalizations like this come up, dont believe them. Everyone is capable of doing a hard workout even when theyre not in the mood. Everyone can overcome their internal resistance.

10. Im tired.

Yep, me too. I still did my heavy squat workout today. There is truth to needing rest, and resting when you need it (listen to your body) but this is usually the mind trying to weasel out of something uncomfortable. Theres a difference between being exhausted and needing some rest, and being the little tired we all feel every afternoon. Push through the latter.

11. I deserve a reward/break.

We all deserve that tasty treat, or a day off. Im not saying you shouldnt give yourself a reward or break. But if you make this rationalization your rule, youll always be on a break. Youll always be giving yourself rewards, and never sticking to the original plan. Heres what I do instead: I see sticking to my plan as the reward itself. Going on a run isnt the thing I have to get through to get a reward the run is the reward.

12. Wouldnt it be nice to stop?

This again is our mind wanting to run from discomfort, and of course its true it would be nice to stop if youre pushing into a discomfort zone for too long. The thing is, the implication is that it would be better to stop, because it would be nice … but thats a lie. It would be easier to stop, but often its better to continue pushing. This excuse almost beat me when I tried to run my 50-mile ultramarathon last December, because honestly it would have been much nicer to stop and not finish the race, especially in the last 10 miles or so. I pushed through, and found out I was tougher than I thought.

13. The result youre going for isnt important.

If youre trying to run a marathon, this is phrased like, Its not that important that I finish this. Ive used this excuse for learning languages (it doesnt matter if I learn this) or programming or any number of things I wanted to learn. Ive used it for writing and exercise and eating healthy food. And while the result might not be that important, the truth is that the process is very important. If you stick with a process that will be better for you in the long run, then you will be better off. But if you let yourself go just because you are uncomfortable and at this moment care more for your comfort than the goal you set out for, youll have lots of problems. The goal isnt important, but learning to stick to things when youre uncomfortable is extremely important.

14. Im afraid.

Now, this is the most honest excuse there is most of us dont want to admit were afraid to pursue something difficult. But its also a weaselly way out of discomfort just because youre afraid doesnt mean you cant do something. You can. Ive done tons of things Im afraid of mostly creating things that I was worried Id fail at. And while the fear sometimes came true I didnt do too well sometimes the act of pushing through the fear was incredibly important and I learned a lot each time.

Awareness & Practice

Ive used all of these excuses hundreds of times each, so dont think Ive overcome them all. And you can use them in the future too. Theres nothing wrong with giving in sometimes.

The key is to learn whether theyre true, and see your pattern. Heres what Ive done:

  1. Notice the excuse. It has way more power if it works on you in the background.
  2. Try to have an answer for the excuse beforehand anticipate it.
  3. If you give in, thats OK, but recognize that youre giving in to a lame excuse. Be aware of what youre doing.
  4. After giving in, see what the results are. Are you happier? Is your life better? Was it worth it giving in to discomfort?
  5. Learn from those results. If you pushed through and are happy about it, remember that. If you gave in to excuses, and didnt like the result, remember that.

If you consciously practice this process, youll get better at recognizing and not believing these lies. And then, bam, youve got your mind working for you instead of against you.

How To Deprogram Yourself

cultureee-1050x563

We are caged by our cultural programming. Culture is a mass hallucination, and when you step outside the mass hallucination you see it for what its worth. -Terence Mekenna

Society has undergone a mass brainwashing and it is time for us to deprogram ourselves in order to be completely immersed in the evolution of consciousness.

1. RELIGION

If a UFO were to land in your backyard tonight, I promise the ET will not have either a bible or money. Religion has been the longest running form of mind control on the planet and has served to not only keep us separated, but to depopulate the world through numerous wars, Inquisitions and Crusades in the name of God.

What religion does not teach us is that we are powerful, spiritual beings without them.

In the next few months or years, we can look forward to religions next form of mind control as they admit to the presence of extraterrestrial beings. This, of course, will not fall into the bibles timeline, unless they try to convince their followers that the ETs have only been around for the last 6,000 years as well. If that were true, then why are they so much more advanced than we are if they are able to travel light years to visit us?

The real truth is that the bible is just a story to keep you living in subservience, control and conformity, the same template as every government.

THE SOLUTION

Ask lots of questions and go within for answers. It is time to take control of your own life instead of giving your energy and power away to others.

2. MONEYWhen you find religion, you find money as these two tenets in life are married to one another. Within these two entities, youll also find their bastard stepchild, government as all 3 are perpetually tied to each other. I often ask people, If there was no such thing as money, then what would you be doing with your life? This will give you an idea of what your life purpose should be if you were not influenced by the almighty dollar. While money can simply be viewed as another form of energy, neither positive or negative, it also takes us away from our true, natural selves along with what is truly important in our lives. We are all economic slaves to the system. How many of us work 40+ hours a week only to find ourselves so drained at the end of the day that we dont want to do anything other than relax and watch TV?

That means that you are working 40+ hours so you can enjoy yourself for the weekend. In essence, you are an economic slave for 5 days to the corporations in exchange for 2 days to yourself. Does this sound fair? And how are you spending these two days? Are you helping to make this world a better place or are you simply recharging your batteries so you can go back to being a slave to these corporations who drained your battery in the first place?

THE SOLUTION

We live in a society that relies on money for existence. Some people are able to get off the grid completely but they are few and far between. Find whatever it is that truly makes you happy, then find ways to make a living doing it. There may be a time when you have to work your current job while building a new career, but in the end, youll find that working for yourself is much more gratifying than working some job that you hate for a boss who is an a*hole. Also, stop supporting these companies that keep us living as economic slaves. Buy local.

3. NATURE

Everything that man has done has contributed to the degradation of nature as we have polluted our food, skies and water supplies. Nature was much better off without us.
Despite our ways, nature provides an outlet and an opportunity to connect with what is important in life because without nature, we do not exist, period.

THE SOLUTION

Take to time to connect with nature. Go out for a long walk in the woods or at the beach. Listen. Stargaze. Find that inner peace that nature provides. This is much more enriching than wasting your time watching TV.

4. TV

Along with religion, this is one of the biggest mind control venues out there. How many times have you ever felt good after watching the news? If you trace who owns the mainstream media in the United States (TV, newspapers, radio stations, magazines, etc…) youll find that there are only 6 people at the top of the chain and all have Zionist ties, so what are the chances that your news is fair and unbiased?

Do you enjoy being (literally) programmed into what you should eat, wear, drink, etc… through the commercials?

This is why we never see an introverted person on TV ads because it shows the wrong message to those in power as they discourage people from looking within. Every ad shows some extrovert with his or her group of friends living the fictitious life that you should be living (through their eyes). And these people have above average looks and portray success, which subconsciously tell us that we are not good enough the way we are and if we want to be successful, beautiful and have friends like them, then we need to purchase whatever product they are selling. Does this sound ridiculous? It is, yet many people fall for this ploy, otherwise the commercial would not exist.

THE SOLUTION

Stop watching TV. If you cannot do this, then record educational programs and skip through the commercials.

5. CLEANSE YOUR BODY

As part of the programming, our bodies have been introduced to many foreign substances, such as vaccines, GMOs, fluoridated water, chemtrails, mercury fillings, etc… There is a reason why 55 countries have BANNED GMOs and why there is a Monsanto Protection Act in the United States. If you havent already, please educate yourself on the dangers of genetically modified organisms.
Each of these substances and elements have been specifically designed to keep our energies at low levels while polluting our bodies along with the air, water and food supplies.

Plus, each of these are introducing elements that are foreign to our bodies and cannot possibly be good for you.
People will say, Well, Ive been eating GMOs for years and I feel great! 10 years from now, when theyre on dialysis from kidney failure or need massive tumors removed, will they be saying the same thing?

THE SOLUTION

Buy local. Buy organic. Stop buying from chain stores. Filter your water, use reverse osmosis or buy clean drinking water. Plant organic heirloom seeds. Replace mercury fillings. Refuse vaccinations. Research holistic physicians and methods to cure holistically.

6. EDUCATION

Our educational system is a complete failure as it basically grooms our children to become corporate economic slaves while discouraging them to ask questions and to follow their own path. Generally, there has been a dumbing down in our educational systems because it is not in the controllers best interests to have a large part of the society questioning why things are the way they are, nor is it in their best interests for us to come up with better solutions.

College is yet another failure as it generally creates even more economic subservience through student loans that will take a life time to repay.

THE SOLUTION

Homeschool your children without the state sponsored propaganda. Teach them at a young age to take time out to meditate. Encourage metaphysical abilities within them (or yourself!).

CONCLUSION

For many people, they will not see or acknowledge the brainwashing and programming that has been occurring throughout the decades and centuries until it is too late. Many will live their lives content as being economic slaves to a broken system.
There are options and solutions:

We are at an important juncture in human history. The path we are currently following is unsustainable and will inevitably self-destruct, as it is already doing under its own weight. What we need are solutions and answers, but first, we need to awaken from the collective programming were under and work together to provide solutions in the best interests of humanity.source

Digital Deception Can You Trust What You See?

Digital-Deception-300x251

We know not to trust everything we see and hear on TV, but do you ever wonder just how much misinformation we are being fed? Whats the extent of it? What is really real?

Would you believe that many of the people you see on the news are actors, paid to stage events and aftermaths for TV consumption? Would it surprise you to learn that well-known footage from prominent world events was actually digitally created, all part of a staged drama, used to sway the TV-watching public into accepting profitable wars and supporting an agenda of centralizing global government? Or that even the supposedly random lottery draws you see on TV, which give millions of people hope they may one day be free of the confines of our controlled society, are actually rigged?

The suppression and manipulation of information has always been a tool used by controlling regimes. And in todays digital age, it is only the medium that has changed; today dictators, terrorists, riots, and revolutions are beamed into our living rooms as part of on-going psychological warfare against the masses; a war on our consciousness itself.

This series of eye-opening video clips will make you distrust everything you see on TV, or better yet, switch it off entirely. Can you trust what you see?

Can You Trust What You See?

Before we examine real examples of mainstream medias digital deceptions, this first clip reveals the amazing capabilities of computer generated graphics, proving that what you see is not always what you get no matter how realistic it might appear.

Winning Lottery Number Appears On Screen Before It Is Even Drawn

In this clip from a live broadcast of Powerball EuroMillions, an apparent glitch in the system of deception results in one of the winning lottery numbers appearing on screen before it is even drawn much to the apparent discomfort of the on-screen presenter.

Are those winning balls, which generate millions in private revenue each week, randomly extracted or deliberately inserted? And what of the elated winner footage we see after major jackpots? Does anyone actually win, or is that also staged for TV to keep hopeful entrants coming back to empty their pockets each week?

Fake News Stories Evidence of Actors Portraying News CharactersBut it isnt just the lottery that is staged. Some media deceptions are far more insidious.

In this clip you will see a paid crisis actor appearing on CNN News, playing the role of witness and victim to the 2012 Aurora Theater shooting. How do we know he is an actor? He forgot to portray his supposed shoulder injury entirely, and is seen here waving his arms wildly as he describes his supposed ordeal to reporters. See for yourself…

False Flag Technology: 9/11Although crisis actors are commonly used, they arent the only method used to fabricate the so-called TV news. The following videos provide indisputable evidence that the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre, used by the US and other western governments as impetus for the highly profitable War On Terror(ism), was also a staged-for-television event. While there is no doubting that thousands of innocent people died that day, the following evidence clearly demonstrates that the footage we all watched on TV of a commercial airplane striking the second WTC tower was in fact a computer generated image. As you will see, the airliner that was claimed to have struck the second tower was digitally imposed over footage of what can only have been a controlled detonation of the building.

In this first video, a technical glitch with the CG image causes the wing of the supposed airliner to disappear momentarily, then magically reappear, before striking the WTC tower.

Further, this next video, broadcast around the world by mainstream media as eyewitness footage, shows another error with the computer generated image; this time, it is a fault with the 3 dimensional overlay. As you will see, the left wing of the supposed airliner is seen to (impossibly) pass behind a building in the background as it approaches the second tower.Revealing what actually happened that day, this leaked unofficial video taken from an airborne helicopter on the day of the 9/11 incident shows the detonation of the second tower with no second airliner in sight.Sandy Hook False Flag EvidenceWhile 9/11 was arguably the biggest and most ostentatious staged-for-TV event in history, it was certainly not the last.

In these two videos, you will see indisputable proof that the Sandy Hook shootings were yet another false-flag event, including evidence of edited green screen cinematography that was broadcast as live on-site news footage, and proving his informed complicity in the Sandy Hook false flag footage of Barack Obama being mistakenly photographed before the press with one of the medias most well-publicized victims, 6 year old Emilee, several days after her supposed death. See for yourself…

So why was the Sandy Hook event staged? This analysis of footage taken on site suggests that the entire event was actually a FEMA drill, with sign-in and facilities areas clearly marked and color-coded identification tags being worn by countless hired participants.Sure raises some questions, doesnt it?!The truth is, you cant trust what you see on TV. None of it. You cant trust the people you see on TV, and you certainly cant trust the people who own, regulate and benefit from what you see be it politically, socially or financially.

What you can be sure of is that the mainstream corporate-owned and government-regulated media is waging a deliberate war on our collective consciousness, beaming fear-inducing images of terrorism and deception right into our living rooms. These deceptions have shaped the way we think, the way we vote, and the way we allow our taxes to be spent. We have allowed wars to be declared in our name, countries to be overthrown and trillion dollar military operations to be funded at our expense and all based on the imagery of simple yet fallible computer graphics.

They dont call it the idiot box for nothing.

Switch it OFF.
